Tim's Ice Cross Journey

Tim Cimmer’s journey into Ice Cross is a testament to his relentless determination and love for competitive sports. His passion for skating began at the age of 7 when he quickly rose through the ranks in hockey, playing alongside future stars like Wayne Gretzky. As his career advanced, Tim excelled internationally, competing in various tournaments and winning numerous medals.

Tim’s Ice Cross journey began after he saw a Red Bull Ice Cross tryout on TV and decided to take part. Despite an initial setback due to balance and jumping challenges, he continued to push forward. He persevered through a knee injury, completing courses with determination. By 2011, he became the first Canadian to compete in Switzerland’s Ice Cross, improving dramatically and moving from 300th to 35th in global rankings.

In 2014, with Red Bull discontinuing their Ice Cross events, Tim launched his own league in Finland. His vision for the sport led to it being officially registered within the European Union. Though Red Bull later adopted some of his ideas, Tim remained committed to the sport’s growth, even attempting to get it recognized as an Olympic event. Overcoming personal setbacks and health issues, Tim continued to promote Ice Cross, building a dedicated community and shaping its future.
